Judging process & Expert Panel
A small team of international experts with extensive experience in the field of gastroenterology will judge award submissions and select an overall winner.
Project ideas should aim to incorporate innovative and original thinking to address current nutritional issues. All submissions will be judged on their ability to make a clear, tangible and measurable benefit to patient outcomes.

Marianne Williams
RD - Specialist Gastroenterology Community Dietitian (UK)
Marianne Williams is a specialist IBS and allergy dietitian working for Somerset Partnership NHS Trust. She set up the first UK ‘Dietetic-Led Primary Care Gastroenterology Clinic’ and along with an integrated team from both primary and secondary care she helped to set up an innovative IBS pathway in Somerset. The fully funded dietetic clinic improves the quality of life in over 74% of patients using a range of specialist evidence based dietary interventions for adult patients with IBS and gastrointestinal allergy. In 2016 Marianne and her colleague, Dr Emma Greig, won the prestigious NICE ‘Shared Learning Award’, and the Somerset IBS pathway has now been included in the UK NICE IBS Guidelines as an example service.

Dr Luca Piretta
General Physician & Lecturer (Italy)
Luca Piretti graduated in medicine in Montevideo (Uruguay) in 1986, and in medicine and surgery from the Sapienza University in Rome in 1987. He gained his Masters degree in human nutrition from the University of Tor Vergata in Rome in 2009. He has practiced as a general physician since 1995, and currently teaches the course on allergies and dietary intolerances at the Campus Bio-Medico University in Rome. He has authored various chapters in scientific books, and has published numerous articles in international scientific magazines relating to his research in the field of gastroenterology and nutrition. He regularly contributes to and participates in Italian television programmes and writes articles on nutrition and gastroenterology for national press. He is a member of numerous scientific societies in the field of gastroenterology and nutrition, and is a member of the board of governors of SISA, the Italian society of dietary science.

Professor Martin Storr
MHBA – Consultant Gastroenterologist (Germany)
Prof. Storr is an internist and gastroenterologist at the Centre for Endoscopy in Starnberg, Germany. He is a professor at the internal medicine departments of the LMU in Munich, Germany, and the University of Calgary, Canada. His clinical interests focus on functional and inflammatory gastrointestinal disorders. He has received a number of significant national and international awards for his research, including the Werner Creutzfeldt Award and the Basic Scientist Award from the International Foundation of Gastrointestinal Disorders (IFFGD). Prof. Storr has published more than 170 original papers, overview articles and books. He is a member of national and European guidelines committees and serves as an expert for German federal agencies. Since 2015, he has chaired the German Society for Neurogastroenterology and Motility (DGNM).
