Visit Dr. Schar Booth at FNCE & Learn about Our Free Resources for Dietitians

The fall season is finally upon us, and so is the annual Food and Nutrition Conference and Exhibition (FNCE). This year’s FNCE is hosted in Boston, MA, Oct 15-18. About 10,000 visitors are expected to attend the biggest event for Dietitians in the United States and Canada. Keeping abreast of new developments in the field of Nutrition and Food Science while earning Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEU) is just a small part of the FNCE experience. With the number of Dietitians in attendance this year, there is no better venue to network with other professionals in our field.
Thousands from across the country and Canada will gather to exchange information, share experiences, and explore new products and services available in the marketplace. FNCE is an event that every Dietitian should attempt to attend at least once in her/his professional career.

If you haven’t registered for this year’s FNCE, it’s not too late to do so. Many employers will even reimburse you for the registration fees as well as travel and accommodations. However, you may find it difficult to locate any affordable hotels in the close proximity to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center this late in the game. The good news is that the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics provides some innovative services to assist you with finding reasonably priced accommodations even at the eleventh hour. If you’re on Facebook—and who isn’t today—you can search for a roommate based on common interests or mutual friends via RoomSync, a Facebook app. There is also a shuttle service that will take you from the Boston Logan Airport to a hotel of your choice at a special group rate.

If you have already registered or plan to register for FNCE this year, you may want to visit the Exhibit Hall during the Unopposed Exhibit-Only Hours (Oct 16-17, 9am-3pm and/or Oct 18, 9am-1pm). During these hours there are no lectures scheduled and all visitors are invited to roam the exhibit halls and explore new and popular products and services available in the market today. Dr Schar will also be back at FNCE this year, showcasing our gluten-free (GF) foods in the Healthy Gut section of the Expo Hall at Booth # 2822. You also will be able to learn more about gluten-related research through the Dr. Schar Institute (DSI). DSI serves as a very valuable free resource to Registered Dietitians and other Healthcare Professionals. We provide free Starter Kits for your patients new to the GF diet, educational materials, webinars, funding towards your own nutrition projects (the DSI Award), and other exclusive offers and giveaways.

This year, we will also host a “Meet & Greet” event with Shelley Case, RD, an international celiac disease and gluten-free nutrition expert. She is a best-selling author of Gluten Free: The Definitive Resource Guide.  A popular speaker and educator, her articles have appeared in many medical journals, magazines and other publications. Shelley has been featured on radio and television including NBC’s Today show and is frequently quoted in major print media.

We look forward to seeing you at FNCE in Boston this year!
