May Celiac Disease Awareness Month

In May, celiac non-for-profit organizations, health professionals working with celiac patients, and of course celiacs themselves come together to help raise awareness about celiac disease.
Dr. Schar also participates in this efforts with many activities geared to raise awareness about this autoimmune disease, including celiac community engagement on our Facebook where we ask our celiac followers to share their celiac story. Our own dietitian who also has celiac disease shared her story during our last FB Live, “Ask a Dietitian”.

We are also the proud sponsor of Celiac Disease Foundation (CDF). CDF is a non-for-profit organization based out of California. They have been supporting the celiac community by funding research and lobbying at the Capitol Hill. In these efforts, CDF has developed an online database, iCureCeliac®, where people diagnosed with celiac can anonymously share data related to their celiac diagnosis. This data is collected to advance researcher and studies related to curing celiac disease. CDF has also an online Celiac Disease Symptoms and Conditions Checklist for those who have not yet been officially diagnosed with celiac but suffer from celiac-like symptoms. Once completed, this checklist can be printed and shared with a medical doctor in support of official celiac diagnosis.

Dr. Schar also sponsored educational FB Live with Canadian Celiac Association dedicated to raising awareness about celiac but also delving into other health conditions associated with celiac. Most people have heard about celiac disease one way or another; but, most do not realize it is an autoimmune disease and as such it’s often associated with other health-related conditions.
In addition, Dr. Schar participated in 3 gluten-free consumer events this month, in Philly, Atlanta, and Minneapolis. Finally, in May, we also run in-store promotional campaigns, including in-store celiac events and price-reduction campaigns on Schar gluten-free products in support of Celiac Awareness Month.

Should you have an idea how to or need our support in your efforts to help raise celiac awareness, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at info@schar.com.
