Sourdough Deli Style Bread

Schar gluten-free Deli Style Bread has had a recent makeover, or rather its packaging has. This favorite of many Schar consumers is sourdough based, as are all our breads. The sourdough base has always been claimed at the top of the ingredient list, but our consumers seemed to miss this detail and kept asking for a sourdough-based bread.
All our breads are based on a traditional Italian sourdough recipe. Europeans have been making sourdough-based breads for centuries. It is the most common way to make bread in Europe to this day. But, in the U.S., this seems to be a pretty new trend, with pics of sourdough bread recently taking over social media. Meanwhile, our colleagues at the Dr. Schar headquarters in Italy try to look into new ways to make bread, without sourdough (as for Europeans there’s only one way to make bread which always involves the use of a sourdough base). But these are just some interesting cultural differences which don’t change the fact that our Deli Style is indeed sourdough based.

With our new and improved packaging, we’ve made sure to specify on the front of the package that it is a sourdough bread. But that’s not the only reason why we’ve relaunched this bread with new packaging. We continue to use our modified-atmosphere packaging to preserve freshness for 4 months unopened, with no preservatives. The difference is the tear-open feature and an option to reseal the package once opened with a sticker that’s included with the package. Finally, to meet the limited retail shelf space, our packaging went from horizontal to vertical.
Please also be on a look out for our new Seeded Deli Style Bread (also sourdough!) that we’ll be launching in the near future.
