Research interest concerning Non-coeliac gluten sensitivity continues to grow. More specifically, evidence is accumulating relating to the successful management of certain sub-sets of patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) by means of a gluten-free diet. This issue of the Forum reports on this developing area and considers how this may direct future research and clinical practice.

For ten years now, Dr. Schär has been collaborating with its own Research and Development department, the R&D Centre in the AREA Science Park in Trieste. To mark this anniversary, Dr. Schär invited international scientists to a symposium at the end of 2013, to discuss current research and the gluten-free future.
